As we move into 2014 there looms new ideas and designs for the designs of websites. It is always a good idea to continue to give a website a new look so viewers don't get used to too much, or they will get bored and go somewhere else. Which is exactly what we do not want to have happen.
Web Design Layouts: Web designers have switched to using grid design in websites, an aspect believed to increase a website's usability. This design was first noted in Pinterest, and many websites seem to have adopted the same. This grid web design format helps make it easy for one to read everything within a website, and contains more visual aspects as compared to content which comes second.
Responsive websites have taken over a lot of space too, and not the newer trend will be to carry that model over to the mobile arena. Since almost 60 per cent of people searching online do so now with their mobile devices, it only makes sense to apply that statistic to searches and take advantage of it. The software is different for desktops and mobile devices, so there will be a concerted push in that direction for 2014.
Landing Pages and Use of HTML5 video: Landing pages in the websites designed today are both simple but very informative, only few text and captions are used in the landing pages, though the message passed through is voluminous. Although flash content still has its place in web design today, web designers in 2014 are adopting the new HTML 5 video design. This is believed to reduce the websites weight on search engines, enhancing its loading speeds and efficiency.
Color will become simpler so as not to distract. Look for simple, straight-forward, one or two color designs. Be sure to view the page as if you were the actual user. This will help you get an idea as to the effectiveness of the design.
